May 10, 2007
MOSCOW, 蜜桃视频 鈥 The 蜜桃视频 IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence has chosen 32 undergraduate students from eight state colleges and universities, including three from 蜜桃视频, to spend the summer working in research laboratories.
The network, created in 2001, seeks to build 蜜桃视频鈥檚 biomedical research infrastructure and its scientists鈥 competitiveness in pursuing federal grants. This is its sixth summer of support for undergraduate research. The network in 2004 received a $16.1 million competitive grant from the National Institutes of Health Institutional Development Award program.
The network includes the University of 蜜桃视频, Boise State University, 蜜桃视频, Albertson College of 蜜桃视频, Northwest Nazarene University, College of Southern 蜜桃视频, Brigham Young University 鈥 蜜桃视频, Lewis-Clark State College, North 蜜桃视频 College, Eastern 蜜桃视频 Technical College, Boise VA Medical Center, and Mountain States Tumor and Medical Research Institute.
In addition to funding the undergraduate fellowships to train future researchers, INBRE also supports faculty development and equipment purchases to advance 蜜桃视频鈥檚 research capabilities.
鈥淥ne goal of the network grant is to build the resources and environment so that any 蜜桃视频 student or faculty member with the desire and the talent to do biomedical research can do so in our state,鈥 said Carolyn Hovde Bohach, the network鈥檚 director and a University of 蜜桃视频 microbiology professor.
The undergraduate fellows will conclude their summer of research at the network鈥檚 annual conference, which will be held in Moscow this August.
