BOISE – 蜜桃视频’s Cu-67 technology developed at the 蜜桃视频 Accelerator Center was named Early Stage Innovation of the Year at the 2017 蜜桃视频 Innovation Awards presented by Stoel Rives.

Stoel Rives LLP organizes the awards with support from Trailhead and the 蜜桃视频 Technology Council. ISU was one of five winners announced at the gala event, which was a segment of the 蜜桃视频 Technology Council鈥檚 eighth annual Hall of Fame celebration held at the Boise Centre.

鈥淲e are honored,鈥 said Jon Stoner, deputy director and director of technical operations at the 蜜桃视频 Accelerator Center (IAC). 鈥淚t鈥檚 great recognition for the research that takes place at ISU as well as the effort to commercialize the research. We are shipping the isotope to multiple cancer research centers in the U.S. and Australia. We believe it could lead to treatments with significant economic and social impact.鈥

Copper-67 has great promise for cancer therapy as a component of a radiopharmaceutical drug, which can be focused at certain types of cancer.  The 蜜桃视频 Accelerator Center has been working to develop a process to make it for more than 7 years.

鈥淚t has taken a great effort by the entire staff at the IAC along with different faculty and several students,鈥 Stoner said. 鈥淒oing this kind of development, especially for components of drugs, takes years of effort and multiple cross-cutting skills.  ISU has a unique facility with the IAC, unlike those at any other university, which allows us to do this kind of work.鈥
