ISU Positive Body Image Symposium set March 14-15

POCATELLO – The first 蜜桃视频 Positive Body Image Symposium will be held March 14 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and March 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the ISU Rendezvous Complex Suites A, B and C.

The free, public symposium will feature renowned researchers and lectures with expertise in different types of body image related topics.  The seminar will offer the option of earning continuing education credits (CEUs) with certificates, which cost $25 for both days or $15 for one day. 

The event schedule is as follows:

March 14

  • 9 a.m. 鈥 鈥淪omatic Movement鈥 鈥 Molly Jorgensen, adjunct dance instructor, ISU theatre and dance
  • 10 a.m. 鈥 鈥淐ulture and Social Messages鈥 鈥 Aditi Ahlawat, counselor/psychologist, ISU Counseling and Testing Center
  • 11 a.m. 鈥 鈥淭he Illusion of Perfection: Skills to Evaluate the Media鈥 鈥 Janette Olsen, associate professor, ISU community and public health, School of Health Professions
  • 1 p.m. 鈥 鈥淪tress Management鈥 鈥 Melissa Caudle, instructor/accreditation specialist, Community and Public Health
  • 2 p.m. 鈥 鈥淏uilding Resilience in a Body Shaming Culture鈥 鈥 Rose Niles, senior staff psychologist, ISU Counseling and Testing Services

March 15

  • 9 a.m. 颅鈥 鈥淪omatic Movement鈥 鈥 Molly Jorgensen, adjunct dance instructor, ISU theatre and dance
  • 10 a.m. 鈥 鈥淏ody Image: What Does Religion Have to Do with It?鈥 鈥 Janette Olsen, assistant professor, community and public health, School Of Health Professions
  • 11 a.m. 鈥 鈥淩eal Life Experiences of the Pressures on Body Image in Athletics鈥 鈥 Hillary Merkley, ISU head track and field coach, ISU Athletics
  • 12:30 p.m. 鈥 鈥淎thletes and Body Image鈥 鈥 Nick Galli, assistant professor (lecturer), University of Utah, Department of Health, Kinesiology and Recreation
  • 1 p.m. 鈥 鈥淒isordered Eating in Men鈥 鈥 Nick Galli, assistant professor (lecturer), University of Utah, Department of Health, Kinesiology and Recreation.
