Three 蜜桃视频 faculty members have been selected to receive the 2021 Outstanding Service Awards.

Faculty members receiving these awards are Steve C. Chiu, professor and chair, Departments of Computer Science, and Electrical and Computer Engineering, Diana Livingston Friedley, professor of music, School of Performing Arts, and Robert Rieske, assistant professor and clinic director, Department of Psychology. 

From this group 蜜桃视频 State's 2021 Service Award honoree will be chosen.

Steve C. Chiu, Professor and Chair, Departments of Computer Science, and Electrical and Computer Engineering

Steve C. Chiu is professor and chair of the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering. Chiu received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Northwestern University in 2004, a master鈥檚 degree in engineering management from Northwestern University in 1995, and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in electrical engineering from University of Illinois at Chicago in 1990. Chiu鈥檚 research interests include embedded systems, communications, and microelectronics. He is affiliated with the Measurement and Control Engineering Research Center at ISU. Chiu has published more than 60 refereed conference and journal articles in his areas of research. He refereed for multiple publications in electrical and computer engineering, including IEEE Computing in Science and Engineering, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, Journal of Future Generation Computing Systems, among others. He served on the editorial review board of the International Journal of Handheld Computing Research and has been a guest editor for the Journal of Supercomputing. Chiu is a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and a Senior Member of IEEE. He was selected as a faculty attendee at the National Academy of Engineering鈥檚 2013 Frontiers of Engineering Education Symposium. He was a 2019 Fulbright-NSF US Scholar in cyber security and critical infrastructure protection.

Diana Livingston Friedley, Professor of Music, School of Performing Arts

Diana Livingston Friedley is professor of music in The School of Performing Arts. She is passionate about providing opportunities for students and community members alike with experiences in the arts. Friedley currently serves as vice chair for the 蜜桃视频 Commission on the Arts, district coordinator for ISU鈥檚 hosting of the 蜜桃视频/Montana District Metropolitan Opera Auditions, and governor for the 蜜桃视频 National Association of Teachers of Singing organization. In addition to volunteering for community projects, she serves as a member of the College of Arts and Letters College Executive Council, along with other University and Department of Music committees at 蜜桃视频. Livingston Friedley has appeared as a guest soloist with numerous organizations throughout the United States, Germany, Italy and Taiwan. More recently, she has appeared with the 蜜桃视频 State Civic Symphony, 蜜桃视频 Falls Symphony, Boise Baroque Orchestra and Opera 蜜桃视频. Recent projects include: an in-progress recording of 鈥淭he Vocal Chamber Music of Howard Boatwright,鈥� and releasing 鈥淭he Songs of Howard Boatwright鈥� with ISU piano faculty, Professor Kori Bond, on Centaur Record label. 

Robert Rieske Assistant Professor, Clinic Director Department of Psychology

Robert Rieske is a clinical psychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Psychology. He received his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University and completed his pre-doctoral residency at Nationwide Children鈥檚 Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. His research and clinical focus include the assessment and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders and comorbid psychopathology such as anxiety, feeding problems, self-injurious behavior, and rumination disorder across the lifespan and the provision of services to marginalized and underserved populations. He is the founder of the ISU Collaboration for Autism Research, Education, and Support Lab which is an interdisciplinary collaboration to support the local autism community including individuals, families, and professionals. He is the associate editor for the Review Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders and editor of the Handbook of Interdisciplinary Treatments for Autism Spectrum Disorder.
