ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ National Laboratory and ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ researchers and leadership met to recognize the accomplishments that both institutions have made with their joint appointments.

Remarks were made by representatives from both institutions to celebrate the nearly 20 joint appointments, approved and in works, ISU has with INL. Currently, ISU has more joint appointments with INL than any other university. These joint appointments enable faculty members to be affiliated with both INL and ISU in order to progress their mission and research.

“Joint appointments enable both organizations to leverage diverse expertise and resources, pushing the boundaries of innovation,” said Blair. “This collaboration inevitably involves students–the next generation of scientists, engineers, educators and leaders– providing them  with hands-on research experience in solving complex problems.”

The joint appointment milestone is another in a long history of collaboration between ISU and INL. Recently, INL Laboratory Director John Wagner and ISU President Robert Wagner signed the Strategic Understanding for Premier Education and Research, or SUPER agreement, further cementing the relationship between the two institutions. The five-year agreement promotes “greater cooperation between both organizations through shared academic materials, visiting research scholars, and joint symposia, seminars,” and more, with specific focuses on critical and strategic materials and minerals, and energy-environmental security.
