ISU’s Recipe for Success Program Offers Free Culinary Program for Job Seekers

August 11, 2025

This fall, the ISU Tech Cafe, located in the Roy F. Christensen building, will come to life. It will once again roar with the sounds of cooking and the chatter of chefs-in-the-making. These culinary craftsmen will take part in Recipe for Success, a pilot culinary and resume-building program offered by ISU’s Continuing Education and Workforce Training Department (CEWT).

This 12-week program is designed to tackle the significant workforce shortages in the local food service industry while supporting individuals interested in a culinary-focused career change and those reentering the workforce after extended employment gaps. Participants will train under Chef Jason Spence and will undergo training that extends beyond the kitchen.  Local experts will join Spence as guest speakers and teach soft skills such as resume building, interview techniques, leadership, and team building.

This program is free to participants and must be registered for in advance. Classes start on Aug 25, 2025. Those interested can register at or contact CEWT directly at 208-282-3372.
